A shocking incident unfolded early Saturday outside The Vermont Hollywood nightclub in East Hollywood when 29-year-old Fernando Ramirez allegedly plowed his car into a crowded sidewalk, injuring at least 30 people, with seven in critical condition. The chaotic scene led to bystanders reportedly beating and shooting Ramirez, who had previously been ejected from the venue for disruptive behavior.

Police confirmed Ramirez is now in custody, hospitalized for his injuries, and faces potential charges including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. The horrific event, which occurred around 2 a.m. local time as patrons gathered for valet services and food stands, saw a car barrel through the crowd, hitting a taco stand and a valet podium.

While investigators are still piecing together the full sequence of events and a motive remains unclear, authorities have stated there is no evidence to suggest a connection to terrorism. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported a massive response of 124 firefighters, treating and transporting victims ranging from their mid-20s to early 30s. The individual believed to have shot Ramirez reportedly fled the scene and is still at large, as the community grapples with the aftermath of this violent attack.
