At least three people are in critical condition and six more are seriously injured after a vehicle reportedly plowed into a crowd on Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, Los Angeles, early Saturday morning.

Emergency services, including a dozen firefighters, swarmed the scene where a bashed grey vehicle was seen straddling the sidewalk amidst debris. The incident reportedly involved the vehicle striking a taco cart before impacting a large group of people gathered outside a nightclub.

Captain Adam VanGerpen of the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) told NBC News that initial reports suggest the driver may have lost consciousness. Adding to the complexity, LAFD also confirmed reports of a gunshot wound among the patients, with paramedics dispatched to the scene at 2 a.m. PDT.

Sgt. Travis Ward of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division stated it is too early to determine if the incident was intentional, emphasizing that an investigation is actively underway. Beyond the critical and serious injuries, 19 individuals are reported to be in fair condition.

This remains a developing story, and authorities are urging the public to await further updates.
