Google has officially released Android 16 QPR1 Beta 3, bringing notable visual enhancements to Pixel devices. This iteration is anticipated to be the final major preview before the stable Android 16 launch scheduled for September.
A key highlight of Beta 3 is the return of vibrant, expressive weather icons in the ‘At a Glance’ widget and on the Pixel Launcher. These colorful icons, which are easier to discern at a glance, especially on the always-on display, replace the more minimalist white set introduced in the first beta. The font size for weather information has also been increased for improved readability.
Furthermore, the Pixel Launcher’s search bar has received an update to its voice search, Google Lens, and AI Mode icons. These icons now feature dynamic theming, adapting to match the user’s homescreen colors. This change aims to reduce visual clutter, particularly when all three shortcuts are present, while giving prominence to the gradient ‘G’ icon on the left. These updates are visible at the top of both the homescreen and the app grid.
