India Mandates Urgent Boeing Jet Inspections After Air India Crash Probe

India’s civil aviation authority has issued an immediate directive for all Boeing 737 and 787 aircraft operating within the country to undergo comprehensive inspections of their cockpit fuel switches. This critical order from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) follows a preliminary report linking a deadly Air India plane crash last month to a potential cut-off in fuel supply to its engines.
Operators have been given a strict one-week deadline to complete these vital checks, ensuring the continued airworthiness and operational safety of the aircraft. National carrier Air India has already initiated and largely completed checks on the fuel control switch locking mechanisms across most of its Boeing 737 fleet and approximately half of its 33 Boeing 787 jets.
