In a significant crackdown on game piracy, the popular Nintendo Switch ROM site Nsw2u has been seized by the FBI. The takedown is part of an ongoing federal investigation, targeting one of the most prominent platforms for illegal Switch game downloads.

Visitors attempting to access Nsw2u’s URL are now met with an official notice confirming the seizure. This action was executed under a warrant issued by the United States District Court in Georgia. The notice also prominently features the logo of the Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD), a Dutch government agency specializing in financial crime, indicating a potential international scope to the operation.

This latest move underscores Nintendo’s aggressive stance against intellectual property infringement. The gaming giant has a history of pursuing legal action against piracy operations, including a 2019 lawsuit against ROM-sharing site RomUniverse, and a recent settlement in March 2024 where the creators of the popular Switch emulator Yuzu paid $2.4 million. Last year, Nintendo also filed a lawsuit against streamer EveryGameGuru for broadcasting pirated and unreleased Switch games.
