New whistleblower documents have surfaced, casting a dark shadow over Emil Bove, President Donald Trump’s nominee for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, just days before his crucial Senate Judiciary Committee vote on July 17. The documents, provided to Congress by former Department of Justice attorney Erez Reuveni, directly implicate Bove in the administration’s alleged criminal contempt of a court order and accuse him of seriously misleading Congress.

Chief Judge James Boasberg had previously found probable cause that administration officials engaged in criminal contempt by willfully disobeying a binding judicial decree that prohibited the transfer of over 100 Venezuelan nationals to El Salvador’s CECOT prison. The newly released documents identify Bove as playing a central role in advising against compliance with this order, despite clear instructions from the court.

Among the most damning revelations are new text messages that appear to corroborate Reuveni’s earlier allegation that Bove suggested the administration should consider telling courts “fuck you” if judges sought to enjoin deportations. Furthermore, an email directly implicates Bove in the decision to defy the court order demanding the return of the Venezuelan deportees to U.S. soil, and raises concerns about the veracity of Bove’s testimony during his Senate confirmation hearing.

Reuveni, who was dismissed from the DOJ in April, has provided a cache of emails and text messages to the Senate Judiciary Committee. These documents detail the Trump administration’s controversial decision to transfer Venezuelan nationals on March 15 under the purported authority of the Alien Enemies Act (AEA), even after Judge Boasberg issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) explicitly requiring the return of those individuals to U.S. soil.

The revelations also highlight Bove’s alleged role in violating the due process rights of the deported migrants. As the Senate prepares for the vote on his nomination, these new documents are poised to trigger intense scrutiny and could significantly jeopardize Bove’s confirmation prospects.
