Aqara’s highly anticipated G410 video doorbell, the successor to the popular G4, is officially available for purchase. Priced at $129.99, the G410 distinguishes itself in the smart home market by offering robust support for Apple HomeKit Secure Video and flexible installation options, accommodating both wireless and hardwired setups without requiring a monthly subscription.

First announced in January, the G410 is packed with features designed to enhance security and smart home integration. It boasts 2K video resolution with a wide 175-degree field of view and a 4:3 aspect ratio, ensuring comprehensive coverage. All live and recorded videos benefit from end-to-end encryption. Connectivity is comprehensive, featuring dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Thread radios. This multi-protocol support allows the G410 to function as an Aqara hub, a Thread border router, and a Matter controller, facilitating seamless integration with Aqara’s extensive range of Zigbee accessories and a growing list of Matter-over-Thread and Matter-over-Wi-Fi devices, including upcoming products from Ikea.

A standout innovation in the G410 is its integrated mmWave sensor, which significantly improves the accuracy of human presence detection. Coupled with on-device facial recognition, the doorbell can trigger personalized notifications and automations. Its advanced Matter Bridging capabilities allow facial recognition data to be shared with Matter platforms like Home Assistant, unlocking even more sophisticated automation possibilities.

For users seeking local control and extensive compatibility, the G410 supports Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP), enabling video feeds to be sent over a local network to platforms such as Home Assistant. It also streams to Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings displays, as well as Aqara’s own seven-inch Panel Hub S1 Plus.

Aqara maintains its user-friendly policy of not imposing recurring fees for basic doorbell functionalities. For hardwired installations, the G410 supports continuous 24/7 recording to microSD cards (up to 512GB) inserted into the included 95dB indoor chime hub. Users can also opt to sync video to network-attached storage (NAS). While Aqara offers an optional subscription for advanced features, the core capabilities and local storage options make it a highly attractive, fee-free solution for most users.
