Foster Poultry Farms has announced a significant recall of nearly 4 million pounds of its chicken corn dog products after reports of wood fragments found in the batter, leading to at least five reported injuries. This urgent public safety notice comes as consumers are advised to immediately check their freezers for the affected items.

The recall, detailed in a notice by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), targets products manufactured between July 30, 2024, and August 4, 2025. These include various chicken corn dog items sold under names such as ‘Chicken Corn Dogs Batter Wrapped Chicken Frankfurters on a Stick’ and ‘Corn Dogs Chicken Franks Dipped in Honey Batter.’ A full list of specific product names and labels can be found on the FSIS website.

Consumers can identify the recalled products by the establishment number “P-6137B,” which is printed either inside the USDA mark of inspection or directly on the packaging. Anyone who has purchased these chicken corn dogs is strongly urged not to consume them. Instead, they should be discarded immediately or returned to the place of purchase for a refund.

Foreign object contamination, like the wood found in these products, remains a leading cause of food recalls in the United States, underscoring the critical need for vigilance in food safety practices.
