Standoff Ends After Vehicle Crashes Into LA City Hall Steps, Driver in Custody

Los Angeles City Hall was evacuated this past Friday afternoon following an incident where a vehicle crashed near its steps, leading to a nearly two-hour standoff with authorities. The driver, who remained inside his car, was eventually taken into custody without further incident.
The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m., prompting immediate road closures and an evacuation of the municipal building. Police engaged with the driver by phone before he voluntarily exited his vehicle around 6 p.m. and was apprehended at 1st and Spring streets.
Footage from news helicopters showed paramedics assessing the man for injuries after he was cuffed.
