Urgent Alert: Albertsons, Safeway Colorado Stores Recall Pesto Pasta Salads Over Listeria Risk – Act Now

DENVER, CO – Consumers in Colorado are urged to immediately check their refrigerators after Albertsons Companies, including Safeway and Albertsons stores, issued a voluntary recall for select store-made deli items due to potential listeria contamination. The recall specifically impacts Ready Meals Pesto Bowtie Pasta Salad and Basil Pesto Bowtie Pasta Salad with ‘Best By’ dates ranging from September 13 to September 29, 2025.
The company initiated the recall after its product supplier, Fresh Creative Foods, identified that a bowtie pasta ingredient, manufactured by Nate’s Fine Foods of Roseville, California, was potentially contaminated. This local recall follows a broader public health alert issued by the U.S. Agriculture Department for similar heat-and-eat pasta meals sold at Walmart and Trader Joe’s, also linked to Nate’s Fine Foods.
While there have been no reported illnesses or adverse reactions to date, the risk of listeria infection is serious. Symptoms can include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions, sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. Pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems are at higher risk.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are advised not to consume them. Instead, they should dispose of the items immediately or return them to their local Albertsons or Safeway store for a full refund.
