Google has commenced the rollout of a significant software update for its Pixel Buds Pro 2, introducing a suite of advanced features designed to enhance audio experience and user interaction. The update, identified as v4.467, is now available to users, bringing improvements to both audio capabilities and the integrated Gemini AI experience.

Key new features include Adaptive Audio, which intelligently adjusts volume by dynamically reducing unwanted surrounding noises, allowing users to stay aware of their environment while enjoying their content. This is particularly beneficial for activities like walking, cycling, or using public transport. Another crucial addition is Loud Noise Protection, a safety feature that automatically reduces the intensity of sudden, loud sounds to safeguard hearing.

For hands-free control, the update introduces intuitive Head Gestures. Users can now manage calls and text messages with simple head movements – a nod to answer or reply, and a head shake to decline, offering a truly seamless experience. Furthermore, interactions with Gemini Live are set to become clearer, even in noisy environments, thanks to advanced audio processing that prioritizes the user’s voice and minimizes background distractions.

To access these new functionalities, Pixel Buds Pro 2 owners can navigate to the Pixel Buds app, then ‘More settings’, and select ‘Firmware update’. As the update is rolling out in phases, users who don’t see it immediately are advised to check back periodically.
