Meta Connect 2025: Hyperscape Rolls Out, Transforms Real-World Spaces into VR

Meta has begun rolling out Hyperscape Capture in Early Access, a groundbreaking technology that allows Quest 3 and Quest 3S owners to transform their real-world environments into immersive, photorealistic virtual reality spaces. Announced during today’s Meta Connect developer conference, this feature marks a significant step towards a more personalized and interactive metaverse experience.
Quest device users aged 18 and over can now scan a physical room in mere minutes, with the system then rendering a digital replica that can be explored in VR. While the capture process is quick, Meta notes that rendering the detailed virtual world may take a few hours. Initially, users will not be able to invite others into their digital spaces, but this functionality is planned for future support via private links.
Hyperscape, which was first demoed at last year’s Connect event, leverages advanced techniques like Gaussian Splatting and cloud rendering to create its highly realistic digital environments. Early examples of featured Hyperscape worlds include Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen, Chance the Rapper’s House of Kicks, and the UFC Apex Octagon.
Beyond Hyperscape, Meta Connect 2025 also unveiled a new lineup of fall VR games, including titles like Marvel’s Deadpool VR and ILM’s Star Wars: Beyond Victory. The company’s streaming app, Horizon TV, will expand its offerings with support for Disney+, ESPN, and Hulu, alongside immersive movie experiences from Universal Pictures and Blumhouse, including a limited-time 3D clip of “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”
