DC Studios co-boss James Gunn has offered new insights into the highly anticipated “Man of Tomorrow” film, confirming a surprising alliance between Superman and Lex Luthor. Speaking recently, Gunn described the upcoming movie as a narrative where the iconic adversaries must “work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat.” He elaborated on the film’s depth, stating it’s “as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie.”

Production for “Man of Tomorrow” is reportedly slated to commence in April 2026, with the film targeting a theatrical release on July 9, 2027. This news follows the significant global success of Gunn’s prior Superman installment, which surpassed $614 million worldwide.

In related DC Universe updates, Gunn also provided an exciting progress report on the “Supergirl” movie, confirming he is currently in the editing phase. Starring Milly Alcock, “Supergirl” is scheduled to open on June 26, 2026. Gunn expressed immense confidence in Alcock’s performance, calling her casting “the best bit of casting I think I’ve ever done in my entire life.”
