Vevey, Switzerland – Nestlé’s Board of Directors has announced the immediate appointment of Philipp Navratil as the new CEO, effective September 1, 2025. This leadership change follows the abrupt dismissal of former CEO Laurent Freixe, who departed due to a breach of Nestlé’s Code of Business Conduct.

The company confirmed that Freixe’s departure was a result of an investigation into an undisclosed romantic relationship with a direct subordinate. The inquiry, overseen by Chairman Paul Bulcke and Lead Independent Director Pablo Isla with external legal support, concluded that a violation of company policy had occurred.

Chairman Paul Bulcke stated, “This was a necessary decision. Nestlé’s values and governance are strong foundations of our company.” He expressed gratitude for Freixe’s service while emphasizing the importance of upholding corporate standards.

Philipp Navratil, who joined the Nestlé Executive Board on January 1, 2025, brings a wealth of experience to the top role. He began his career with Nestlé in 2001, holding various leadership positions including Country Manager for Nestlé Honduras, head of the coffee and beverage business in Mexico, and a key role in Nestlé’s Coffee Strategic Business Unit. Most recently, he served at Nespresso, where he accelerated growth since July 2024.

Bulcke expressed confidence in Navratil, highlighting his impressive track record and dynamic, inclusive leadership style. “The Board is confident that he will drive our growth plans forward and accelerate efficiency efforts. We are not changing course on strategy and we will not lose pace on performance,” Bulcke added.

Navratil, in response, conveyed his honor and commitment: “I fully embrace the company’s strategic direction, as well as the action plan in place to drive Nestlé’s performance. I look forward to working closely with the entire leadership of the company… to accelerate execution and to drive the value creation plan with intensity.”
