Police investigating the death of French streamer Raphaël Graven, known online as Jeanpormanove, have announced significant developments in their ongoing inquiry. Authorities confirmed they have interviewed several individuals present at the time of his death and seized critical equipment and videos as part of the investigation.

Mr. Graven was discovered dead at a residence in a village north of Nice on Monday. His passing prompted French government minister Clara Chappaz to describe it as an “absolute horror” on Tuesday, highlighting that he had reportedly endured months of humiliation.

Nice prosecutor Damien Martinelli stated that an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, August 21st, to determine the cause of death. While initial interviews with those present have not yet clarified the circumstances, the seized equipment and videos are expected to shed light on events leading up to his passing.

Raphaël Graven, 46, gained notoriety on platforms like Kick for videos depicting apparent violence and humiliation, often involving extreme online challenges, sleep deprivation, and physical abuse. Local media reported he died in his sleep during a live broadcast.

In parallel to the death investigation, police in Nice have been conducting a separate probe since December 2024 into alleged “deliberate violent acts” against vulnerable individuals, featured in online videos. Mr. Graven and another streamer, Coudoux, had previously been questioned in this earlier investigation. Both had “firmly denied being victims of violence,” asserting that the acts were “staging aimed at ‘creating a buzz’ to make money” and that they were free to make their own decisions.

Kick, the live-streaming platform where Mr. Graven broadcasted, has expressed deep sadness over his loss and stated they are “urgently reviewing” the circumstances surrounding his death.
