Effective today, August 21, Sony has officially raised the prices for all PlayStation 5 console models across the United States. This move sees a $50 increase across the board for the popular gaming system.

Consumers looking to purchase a PS5 Digital Edition will now find the price at $500, up from $450. The standard PlayStation 5 console, which includes a disc drive, has increased from $500 to $550. Additionally, the premium PS5 Pro model is now priced at $750, up from its previous $700.

Sony Global Marketing VP Isabelle Tomatis cited a “challenging economic environment” as the reason for this “difficult decision.” The company has clarified that this price adjustment applies only to consoles sold in the U.S. and does not affect prices for PlayStation games or accessories. Sony is the final major console manufacturer to implement price increases this year, following similar moves by Microsoft for Xbox consoles and Nintendo for Switch products.
