Warner Bros.’ horror-thriller “Weapons” has maintained its stronghold on the domestic box office, securing the No. 1 spot for a second consecutive weekend. The film added an impressive $25 million to its coffers, bringing its domestic total to $89 million and its global tally to $148.8 million.

Despite “Weapons'” success, the overall weekend gross for North American cinemas dipped significantly, totaling just $92.39 million. This marks the first time in 13 weeks that the box office has fallen below the $100 million mark, signaling a challenging late-summer period for the industry.

Universal Pictures’ highly anticipated sequel, “Nobody 2,” debuted in third place with a disappointing $9.25 million opening weekend. The film struggled to ignite audience interest, falling short of expectations.

Elsewhere, Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” landed at No. 4 with $8.8 million, pushing its domestic total to $247 million. Warner Bros.’ “Superman” continued its strong run, taking in $5.28 million for a domestic total of $340.9 million. Internationally, Crunchyroll and Sony’s anime feature “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle” saw a massive $17.5 million opening across eight Southeast Asian markets, hinting at its potential global impact.

The coming weekend is anticipated to remain quiet, with new releases like Ethan Coen’s “Honey Don’t!” and Ron Howard’s “Eden” not expected to provide a significant boost to the sluggish summer box office.
