A suspect involved in the ambush and shooting of two Pennsylvania state troopers on Thursday has been confirmed deceased, while both officers are reported to be in stable condition following the incident in rural Susquehanna County.

The attack unfolded shortly after 11 a.m. near Thompson, approximately 163 miles north of Philadelphia. State Police Colonel Christoper Paris stated that the troopers were dispatched to check on an individual, with additional information about shots being fired. Upon their arrival, they were immediately ambushed and fired upon. Paris emphasized that the officers are “very lucky to be alive.”

In a testament to their training and courage, one trooper applied a tourniquet to an injured colleague, and a third trooper was instrumental in their rescue. Authorities confirmed that the individual responsible for the ambush is deceased. Police vehicles at the scene sustained multiple bullet impacts, indicating the intensity of the confrontation.

Pennsylvania officials, including Governor Josh Shapiro, visited one of the wounded officers at the hospital. U.S. Senator Dave McCormick and U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan have both expressed their relief and prayers for the officers, stating they are closely monitoring the developing situation.
