A recent study by the Korean Consumer-Centered Enterprise Association (KCEA) has officially crowned Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 as the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone, measuring an impressive 8.82mm when folded. This finding not only surpasses Samsung’s own advertised 8.9mm but also positions it ahead of competitors like Honor, Oppo, Huawei, Vivo, and Xiaomi, whose devices were found to be thicker than claimed.

The KCEA’s in-person measurements revealed significant discrepancies, particularly with Honor’s Magic V5, which was advertised at 8.8mm but measured 9.35mm. Other manufacturers like Huawei (Mate X6), Vivo (X Fold 5), and Xiaomi (Mi Mix Fold 4) also showed notable differences between their advertised and actual thicknesses. Honor attributed its thinner measurement to removing protective films, a practice that evidently skews real-world comparisons.

With the Galaxy Z Fold 7 now globally available, Samsung solidifies its position in the competitive foldable market, offering a device that is not only technologically advanced but also boasts a verified claim to the coveted ‘thinnest’ title, setting a new benchmark for design and engineering in the industry.
